Commercial Fence Lubbock TX - Security & Industrial Fencing

Lubbock's Rules for Commercial and Mixed-Use Property

Wood screening fence behind landscaping at a commercial lot line, Lubbock, TX

Height and Placement

Nonresidential and mixed-use fences top out at 8 feet. Outside the IP, LI and GI districts, any fence or gate taller than 4 feet can't extend past the building's front facade. Hotels have one exception: a 6-foot ornamental metal fence that is less than 50 percent opaque may go past the facade.

Approved Materials

Masonry, or any sustainable material with more than a 30-year life expectancy; ornamental metal; cedar or redwood; composite; vinyl; wooden split rail or painted pipe rail on parcels of an acre or more. Other wooden picket fences need metal posts, brackets and caps, with chemically pre-treated horizontal members at least 2 by 4 inches.

Prohibited Materials

Sheet, roll or corrugated metal, electrified components, and plywood or other cast-off materials are out. Chain link and razor wire are prohibited too, except where the code provides for them.

Industrial Security Fence (LI and GI Districts)

For industrial uses in the LI and GI districts, Lubbock allows security fencing up to 10 feet, and chain link and barbed wire are permitted materials. Barbed wire must also meet the City's adopted building codes. We build chain link with barbed-wire arms, cantilever slide gates for truck traffic, and man gates with keyed or coded access for yards, shops and equipment storage.

Screening, Columns and Entries

Screening Fence

Solid cedar, composite or masonry-and-metal screens for dumpsters, loading areas and the property line next to homes.

Masonry Columns With Metal Infill

A durable, approved-material look for frontages, churches and multifamily entries.

Automated Commercial Gates

Slide and swing operators with access control, built to UL 325 and ASTM F2200. See automatic gate openers.

Working on an Active Site

We plan around when your business is open, keep a lane open for customers or trucks, and call in Texas 811 locates at least 48 hours ahead, not counting weekends and holidays. Private lines like lot lighting and irrigation aren't marked by the utilities, so we ask for your site drawings.
