Swing Gate Operators
Arm or articulated operators for single and double swing gates. The gate has to swing freely by hand first; an opener on a sagging gate just burns out sooner.

An automatic gate should open when you press the remote and stop the instant something is in its way. We install swing and slide gate operators on Lubbock driveway gates, and we troubleshoot openers that have quit, reverse for no reason, or won't close all the way.

Pad-mounted operators that drive a chain or rack. They handle heavy gates well and keep working in wind that would fight a swing gate.

Remotes, wireless keypads, receivers for multiple users, and exit sensors so you don't need a remote to leave.
Gate operators are covered by ANSI/CAN/UL 325, and automated vehicular gates by ASTM F2200. DASMA's installer checklist sums up what those require in the field: a listed operator with its entrapment protection working, pinch points guarded or covered by contact or non-contact sensors, and warning signs on both sides of the gate. On slide gates it adds screening so a 2¼-inch sphere can't pass through the gate up to 72 inches, plus covers on rollers 8 feet or lower. Controls can't be mounted on the operator or within 6 feet of the gate. If people walk through, they need separate pedestrian access. When an existing gate can't meet those points, we'll tell you what has to change before we automate it.
On acreage far from the house, solar or battery-backed operators avoid trenching a long power run. HomeGuide notes battery power adds $200 to $600 and hardwiring or solar adds $400 to $2,000 or more nationally. Before any trench, we call Texas 811: state law requires notice at least 48 hours ahead, not counting weekends and holidays.
Common calls: the gate stops and reverses for no reason (dirty or misaligned photo eyes, or an obstruction setting drifting), it won't close fully (limits out of adjustment), it runs slow in cold weather (a weak battery), or it's dead after a storm (blown fuse, surge or a failed board). We check the gate first. A binding hinge or a sagging leaf makes any opener look broken. If the gate itself needs work, we'll send you to our gate repair crew.
HomeGuide's 2026 guide puts automating an existing driveway gate at $400 to $5,500, and average automatic gate repairs at $500 to $1,000. National figures, not quotes.
