Dog Fence Lubbock TX - Dog Runs & Dig-Proof Pet Yards
Most "my dog keeps getting out" calls come down to three gaps: under the fence, over the fence, or through the gate. We build dog fence and dog runs around how your dog actually escapes, not around a catalog panel.
- On-site measuring before any price
- Every part of the job itemized on paper
- Homes, acreage and commercial lots
- Built to Lubbock's fence rules from day one

Stopping Diggers
On the South Plains, wind scours loose soil along a fence line and opens a gap under the bottom rail before you notice. A digging dog finishes the job. For diggers we bury a wire apron along the inside of the fence, or set a concrete or treated kickboard at grade. It's cheaper than chasing holes every weekend.

Stopping Jumpers and Climbers
A solid fence at least 5 feet tall stops most jumpers, because the dog can't see what's on the other side. Climbers use horizontal rails as steps, so we put rails on the outside face or pick a style without footholds. Lubbock allows residential fences up to 10 feet outside the required front setback, so height is rarely the limit; budget usually is.

Small Dogs and Puppies
Small breeds slip through gaps that look tiny to us. Puppy-picket ornamental panels add extra pickets in the bottom section, and board-on-board cedar has no gaps at all. Chain link with a bottom tension wire keeps little dogs from pushing under.

Dog Runs and Kennels
A dedicated run is the answer when the whole yard can't be fenced, or when a dog needs a safe spot during work at the house. We build runs with chain link or welded wire panels, a self-latching gate, a shade cover for July, and a gravel or concrete floor that drains. Lubbock's normals show about 92 days a year at 90°F or hotter, so shade isn't optional.
Gates Dogs Can't Beat
Most escapes are through a gate someone left open. Spring-loaded hinges, gravity latches and a latch a dog can't nose open fix that. On alley gates, a drop rod keeps the gate from swinging open when wind rattles it.
Which Fence Fits Your Dog
Big diggers: chain link or steel-framed fence with a buried apron. Barkers who react to passersby: solid privacy fence. Small dogs: puppy pickets or board-on-board. If you're also fencing the whole yard, see cedar privacy fence or chain link fence.
