Lubbock, Texas · South Plains
Pipe fence is what you build when you never want to build that fence again. Welded steel pipe posts and rails, capped and painted, will outlast cattle, horses, trucks backing into it and decades of South Plains weather. We build it along acreage frontage, around arenas and horse traps, and at ranch entries across Lubbock County.

A welded pipe top rail over woven wire, field fence or cable. It holds smaller stock, and the stiff top rail keeps the run straight.

Welded wire panels clipped to a pipe frame. A clean look for a homestead or a dog yard on acreage.
Inside Lubbock city limits, the development code allows painted pipe rail fencing, like wooden split rail, only on parcels of one acre or larger. On smaller residential lots, choose another approved material. Out in the county, pipe fence is built to what your animals and your gate traffic need.
USDA's description of Acuff soil, mapped across much of Lubbock County, shows a caliche-plugged layer starting around 38 inches deep. A pipe post that stops on top of that layer is set shallow. We drill through when we need depth.
Every post gets a welded cap so rain doesn't fill the pipe and rust it from inside. Welds are cleaned, then the fence is primed and painted. Lubbock gets about 18 inches of rain a year in NOAA's normals, so paint is mostly fighting sun, not water, and fades faster on the south and west faces.
Corners and gate posts get bracing so stretched wire or a swinging gate can't pull them over.
HomeGuide's pipe fence guide lists pipe fence at $15 to $40 per linear foot nationally, with simple farm gates adding $200 to $500 per opening. Not our quote; your quote lists posts, rails, welding, paint and gates separately.
