Pool Fence Lubbock TX - Pool Barriers & Self-Closing Gates

A pool fence has one job that matters more than looks: keeping a small child from reaching the water alone. We build pool barriers in ornamental steel, aluminum, vinyl and removable mesh for Lubbock homes, and pool-yard enclosures for apartment complexes and HOA pools, with gates that close and latch on their own every time.

  • On-site measuring before any price

  • Homes, acreage and commercial lots
  • Built to Lubbock's fence rules from day one

Homes Inside Lubbock

Lubbock's development code puts outdoor pools, spas and hot tubs in the side or rear yard, with the same setbacks as a detached structure measured from the outside of the pool fence or wall. The enclosure has to meet the City's adopted residential code, and the City has adopted the 2021 International Residential Code and the 2021 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code. We build to those and check heights, gaps and gate hardware before the inspection.

Apartment Complexes and HOA Pools

Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 757 sets the rules for a pool at a multiunit rental complex or one a property owners' association owns or maintains. The enclosure must be at least 48 inches tall measured on the side away from the pool. No opening under it may pass a 4-inch sphere. Chain link is banned outright for any new pool-yard enclosure built after January 1, 1994, and so are diagonal members lower than 49 inches.

Gates Are Where Barriers Fail

Under Chapter 757, a pool-yard gate must be self-closing and self-latching, lockable, and open outward away from the pool. The latch goes at least 60 inches above the ground. It can sit lower only if it's on the pool side, at least 3 inches below the top of the gate, with no opening over half an inch within 18 inches of the latch. We'd hold a home pool gate to the same habits: test the closer from every open position, and check it again after the first windy month, since Lubbock wind will find a weak closer fast.

Pool Barrier Materials

Ornamental Steel or Aluminum

The most common choice. We pick panels with vertical spacing tight enough for the code and no horizontal rails a child could use as a ladder on the outside.

Removable Mesh Pool Fence

Transparent mesh in metal frames, set in sleeves in the deck. Texas Property Code §202.022 bars an HOA from prohibiting a pool enclosure that meets safety rules, and it can't ban one that's black, transparent mesh set in metal frames.

Vinyl or Solid Privacy Around a Pool

Works if heights and gate hardware meet the code. Keep pool equipment and planters away from the outside face so they don't become steps.

National Price Context

HomeGuide's 2026 pool fence guide lists $10 to $45 per linear foot installed for typical materials, with mesh at $10 to $30 and aluminum at $30 to $45. National figures, not our quote.

For a decorative front fence, see wrought iron fence. For a solid backyard screen, see vinyl privacy fence.
