Vertical ribbed panels from the bottom rail to the cap, usually 6 feet tall. It's the most wind-solid option we build, so the post size and footing depth are matched to the height.

R-panel fence is about as West Texas as a fence gets: ribbed steel sheets on a steel frame, no stain, no pickets to replace, and a solid face that stops blowing dust better than spaced boards. We build it for backyards, alley lines, shop yards and anywhere a homeowner wants privacy that shrugs off sun.

Lubbock allows sheet, roll or corrugated metal on residential fences only when the fence has metal posts, metal frames, metal brackets and metal caps. In practice that means no panels screwed to wood rails. We weld or bracket steel rails between steel posts and cap the top so there's no raw panel edge.
On commercial and mixed-use property it's a different answer: the code lists sheet, roll and corrugated metal as prohibited there. If your lot is commercial, start with our commercial fence page instead.

Vertical ribbed panels from the bottom rail to the cap, usually 6 feet tall. It's the most wind-solid option we build, so the post size and footing depth are matched to the height.

Panels set inside a frame with a cedar or steel trim board around them. This softens the industrial look for a front-facing side yard or an HOA that wants a "finished" edge.

Panels run horizontally, or combined with cedar slats for a modern look. We keep the metal-frame rule in play no matter how the panels are arranged.
A solid metal fence doesn't flex or let air through, so the load goes straight to the posts. NOAA data for Lubbock's airport shows April averaging 13.8 mph, the windiest month of the year, and yearly peak two-minute winds above 46 mph in every year from 2015 to 2024. We'd rather add a post than watch a run lean after its first spring. Ask us about adding a vented band or a gap under the cap if your line faces open ground to the west.
Bare galvanized panels reflect hard in summer, and Lubbock averages about 92 days a year at 90°F or hotter in NOAA's 1991–2020 normals. Painted or colored panels cut the glare and the heat facing a patio. Cut edges and screw holes get touched up so rust doesn't start where the coating was broken.
HomeGuide's 2026 corrugated metal fence guide lists corrugated steel at $25 to $55 or more per linear foot installed, corrugated aluminum at $30 to $60, and gates at $300 to $1,500 or more each. National figures, not our quote.
